Woman in Engineering Brings Light to Civil Engineering Firm

Svetlana engineering employee spotlight

Svetlana’s streetlight, residential and commercial designs provide light to projects throughout the Pepco service area.

Employee at KCW Engineering embodies the true meaning of her name in her everyday work.

With a name that translates to “light,” Svetlana embraces its meaning to the fullest. She brings light and laughter to KCW daily, both figuratively and literally. While her bright personality provides light at KCW, Svetlana’s streetlight, residential and commercial designs provide light to projects throughout the Pepco service area.

Her love of engineering and designing is apparent. When asked to define the most rewarding part of her job she said, “To see my design actually built. I am very glad to fulfill my name and to provide light.”

Svetlana envisioned herself in the field of engineering since high school. A few short months after moving to America, from her home country of Russia, Svetlana took the leap and joined the KCW family. One member of the KCW family holds a special connection to Svetlana – her husband, Mark. He worked as a designer for KCW for nearly four years prior to her move. Now they make a dynamic pair with diverse strengths in different departments of the company.

Svetlana has worked in nearly every department KCW has to offer, including our Land Development, Telecommunications and Electrical Engineering departments. However, Svetlana truly excelled in our Electrical Engineering department, developing her skills from the ground up. When she began in the department with little prior experience, she was determined to learn every skill she could. Now, her work with one of our largest clients, Pepco Holdings, Inc., truly highlights Svetlana’s dedication & understanding of various departmental tasks.

KCW is incredibly grateful to have such a positive, dedicated, knowledgeable asset to our team. Thank you for all that you do for our company Sveta!
